Less is more*

Last Sunday I went for a stroll in the old part of Tavira and met Dany. She is British but lives in Portugal with her husband. They have a house close to the outer wall of Tavira Castle. This house was designed by her husband who happens to be an architect. The house is great. Not a very big one. It has several levels, and goes from the Main Street up to the Castle. The hall consists of several flights of stairs. The house keeps its facade and structure but it was all rebuilt inside in a very simple and functional way. Stone and marble were the raw materials used and the windows are still the same. Despite being in a somehow dim place, once the windows and doors are open the house is flooded with  daylight.

In a nutshell, excellent taste! We have so much to learn in this field. When we look  at the architectural «pollution» we see almost everywhere in our country we immediately  realize the way that  still lies ahead of us…
